Michael de Janes

Michael deJanes is an attorney at law (www.deJaneslaw.com), as well as a Principal at New Kent Consulting. Michael specializes in providing consultative business services to clients regarding their compliance and regulatory obligations.

Michael is the former General Counsel of ChoicePoint Inc. (CPS), a NYSE data and technology company acquired by Reed Elsevier in late 2008 for more than $4B. In his roles at ChoicePoint, Michael developed great expertise in leading legal and business teams in the negotiation review, drafting and consummation of M&A transactions, negotiating a wide range of legal documents including software and hardware licenses, customer contracts, data acquisition agreements, non-compete, employment and confidentiality agreements and the acquisition of data and technology. Prior to joining ChoicePoint, Michael held a number of legal positions at Equifax.

deJanes has over 25 years of business experience advising corporate executives on a wide range of issues including M&A transactions, Fair Credit Reporting Act compliance, business contract negotiations, intellectual property licensing, new product development, corporate governance, and a wide variety of Data Privacy and Regulatory Issues.

Michael is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College (BA – History), and earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama. Michael has two children, John and Kristen who attend the Westminister Schools in Atlanta, Georgia.
